History

Liberty, MA was settled on January 1, 1863 by freed Northern slaves in the United States of America's state of Massachusetts. 

It became a refugee of freed or runaway Southern slaves. 

On May 1, 1864, slaves of all races and immigrants from other countries made Liberty, MA their homes as well. 

A year later on May 1, 1865, the tradition of celebrating their liberation called Liberty Day was held in town. 

The residents of Liberty are mostly affluent to middle class. Crime is low. And it's a true community that looks out and helps each other.
